Guidy AI review: screen guidance, pricing & tradeoffs

By Agent Infra Guide editorial · Sources checked September 30, 2026

Our verdict: try Guidy free if finding where to click is the problem. Pay only after it helps with your recurring tasks.

What is Guidy AI, and how does it work?

Guidy AI at guidy.ai is a desktop assistant for help inside apps and websites. The vendor describes a download-and-sign-in workflow: ask about the screen you have open, then follow its visual guidance. This review concerns that product, rather than similarly named video-documentation or travel tools.

  1. 1. Supply context

Open the app and ask for help with what is visible.

  2. 2. Receive guidance

Guidy interprets the screen and highlights the next step.

  3. 3. Act and verify

You carry out the instruction and check the result.

The useful distinction is the feedback loop: a pasted screenshot gives a chat model one moment of context; on-screen guidance aims to follow the task as you work. This is a category-level explanation, not a reverse-engineered account of Guidy's implementation. Screen recognition is also different from a native app integration: it does not establish API access, reliable automation, or compatibility with every interface.

Who should consider Guidy, and who should skip it?

The best candidate is someone learning software while doing the work, rather than someone delegating an entire job. The vendor's Excel examples include formulas, charts, and pivot tables; its work examples extend to browser dashboards and unfamiliar applications. Those are proposed workflows, not AIG test results or guaranteed outcomes.

What does Guidy cost now?

The live pricing page lists Free at $0 and Unlimited at $9.99/month. Check the final currency and tax-inclusive amount at checkout. Older reviews mentioning a $69 lifetime purchase and credit top-ups describe a legacy offer; Guidy's current terms, section IV.7 say lifetime plans are no longer sold to new buyers.

Free · $0

250 credits renewed each day; no card required. Guidy estimates about 4–8 guided tasks daily. That is a vendor estimate, not a task allowance we verified.

Unlimited · $9.99/month

Advertised without a daily credit cap, with voice and text. It renews monthly until cancelled. Unlimited remains subject to technical and acceptable-use controls.

Both plans advertise three thinking modes. Free credits do not roll over, and consumption depends on the task (terms IV.5–6). A useful buying test: log whether your daily allowance actually blocks work you care about. At the listed monthly rate, twelve payments total $119.88 before taxes or price changes; that is arithmetic, not an annual-plan offer.

Refund wording conflicts: confirm before paying

Pricing advertises a 14-day refund without conditions. The terms, section V.8 instead require a request within 14 days, usage no greater than the equivalent of 250 credits for that billing period, and no abuse. Ask Guidy which policy applies. The terms also distinguish a refund from cancelling future renewals. Use the free plan to evaluate fit first.

Which platforms and integrations are supported?

Current homepage and pricing copy advertise Windows and macOS. Older vendor posts and directory listings still describe Windows-first availability; use the current download flow to check your machine. We have not verified minimum OS versions, CPU architecture, RAM, multi-monitor handling, or managed-device installation requirements.

Guidy markets guidance across desktop software and websites. That does not mean an official integration with each named app, or a confirmed Linux, mobile, browser-extension, API, or self-hosted version. Verify those requirements with support. Third-party AI processing is documented in its privacy policy; do not assume this is an offline assistant.

What should a technical buyer ask about privacy?

Treat the screen as a data source, including anything visible behind the task. The privacy policy, sections 3, 6 and 8 describes temporary screen processing, possible transmission to external AI providers, and retention of account and operational data. It says sensitive-data masking can miss content. These are vendor statements, not an independent security audit.

Public explanations are inconsistent. Homepage copy suggests nothing is sent to servers, while thesecurity FAQ describes screenshots sent to AI providers and retained for up to 30 minutes. The policy says screenshots are discarded after guidance. Ask for one written data-flow and retention explanation before sharing confidential work. The security page lists SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 work as in progress; that is not evidence of completed certification.

  • Which screen regions are captured, and can I restrict capture to one window?
  • Which providers process my session, in which regions, with what retention and training terms?
  • Can I obtain a DPA and evidence for any claimed controls my organization requires?
  • What remains in telemetry after a session, and how do deletion requests cover it?

Keep passwords and client records out of the trial task. For tools that can execute actions, ouragent security controls guide explains permissions, approvals, and containment. If processing must stay on hardware you control, start with theAI architecture finder instead.

Guidy vs ChatGPT, Claude, browser assistants, and autonomous agents

Compare the interaction you need, rather than the model name. Start with a general chat workflow when you can share text or a screenshot and apply the answer yourself. Consider Guidy when repeatedly translating instructions into the current interface is the hard part. This compares manual chat with guidance; it does not imply that ChatGPT or Claude lack separate agent or computer-use modes.

Browser assistance

A browser assistant may be enough if all the work stays in tabs. Check its scope before expecting it to understand native desktop apps. Guidy's advertised desktop coverage matters most when a workflow crosses that boundary.

Copilot Vision: a direct alternative to investigate

Microsoft documents Copilot Vision for selected screen or app sharing, voice guidance, and possible highlights. It does not click, type, or scroll for you. Compare its availability and interaction style on your device before adding another paid tool; we have not run a head-to-head test.

Autonomous and coding agents

If success means changed files, executed commands, verified tests, or a scheduled job, screen guidance is only part of the problem. Our coding-agent comparison framework examines execution and review, while self-hosted agent alternatives cover persistent runtimes.

Meaningful limitations to check in a trial: incorrect instructions, hidden controls, unusual app layouts, response delay, and recovery after a wrong step. We cannot quantify those for Guidy yet. Screen context also cannot establish that a formula, code change, or business decision is correct; verify the output separately.

Frequently asked questions

Is Guidy AI worth paying for?

Only if the free plan demonstrates value on your real tasks and its daily allowance becomes a practical constraint. Record successful completions and corrections needed over several days; a product demo is not enough to justify another subscription.

Can I try Guidy for free?

Yes. Current pricing lists a continuing free plan with a daily allowance and no card requirement, rather than a time-limited paid-plan trial. Check the signup terms when creating an account.

Does Guidy take over my computer?

Its documented positioning is guidance you follow. Do not buy it assuming unattended computer control or automatic task completion; ask the vendor to demonstrate any execution capability your workflow requires.

Is Guidy safe for sensitive work?

We cannot certify that. Read the processing policy, resolve the retention discrepancies above, and obtain your organization's approval. No-storage marketing is not equivalent to no external processing.
